The My BMW App: From the charging status to individual statistics and settings of your BMW i8.
The BMW i8 was also “first of a new era” in terms of “app connectivity to a vehicle.”
With the i8’s standard feature “Connected eDrive Services incl. Remote Services & eDrive Services” (in early i8 models: “Connected Drive Services” and “Remote Services”), it allows its owner to control various vehicle functions and receive helpful information from the vehicle on their smartphone or tablet using the My BMW App.
To do this, after downloading the My BMW App from the Google Play Store or the Apple Store, you need to register once within the app to obtain a BMW ID. The exact procedure is described in detail in the BMW FAQ pages (UK) / BMW FAQ pages (US).
The My BMW App configures itself specifically for each vehicle and model and allows the management of multiple vehicles and users.
This allows you to…:
– Lock and unlock the vehicle
– Activate the lights or horn
– Check the fuel and charge status, and retrieve charging statistics
– Charge or pre-condition the vehicle at set times
– Send destinations to the i8’s navigation system
– Display the due dates for upcoming services
– Add Connected Drive services
